“3224 – Opal Triplet (pair)5×7 mm Ovals 1.85 tw Opal was formed many millions of years ago, when a combination of silica and water flowed into cracks and spaces in the ground. This then gradually hardened and solidified to become opal. Opals contain water, which makes them very sensitive to heat. They are soft and can be cracked or chipped easily. Opals should be stored in moist absorbent cotton. The opal is said to be many things including the most powerful of healing stones, the stone of hope, the stone of great achievement and even the “”stone of the Gods””. Ancient Romans associated opal with hope and good luck. It is said to be the stone of love, but only to faithful lovers.
Triplets are ideal for those who wish to wear an opal regularly or live in extreme environments (high heat, low humidity or large temperature changes between indoor and outdoor environments) that can damage opal solid stones. Triplets are made by sandwiching precious opal between an onyx or similar base stone and a clear quartz cabochon.

In Times Of Antiquity And The Middle Ages, The Term Sapphire Actually Referred To Lapis Lazuli, But In The Early 19Th Century, The Description And Definition Of Sapphire Was Changed To The Corundum Variety We Know Today.
While Blue Is The Most Traditional And Classic Color For Sapphire, Sapphire Is Actually Found In A Variety Of Different Colors. Most Natural Sapphire Is Quite Pale And Light In Color. Only A Small Percentage Of Natural Sapphire Exhibits Vivid And Intense Colors Without Some Type Of Treatment Or Enhancement, The Most Common Being Heat-Treatment. For Many Years, Only Blue Sapphire Was Recognized As ‘True’ Sapphire. Today, All Colors Of Gem Quality Corundum Are Known As Sapphire, With Exception To Red Corundum, Which Is Classified As Ruby.
The Most Common Treatment For Sapphire Is Heat Treatment, Though Unheated Specimens Can Be Found. “3227 – Large Garnet 8X10 Mm Emerald Cut 3.85 When Thinking Of Garnet, Most People Think Of Red Gemstones. Garnet Most Commonly Occurs In Red, And The Origin Of The Name “”Garnet”” Lies In This Deep Red Hue. The Name “”Garnet”” Comes From The Medieval Latin Word, “”Granatum””, Which Is An Adjective Meaning “”Dark-Red””. It Is Thought That This Adjective Could Have Been Extracted From The Word “”Pomegranate””, Due To The Color Of The Seed Coats Or Shape Of The Seeds. However, The Word Could Also Have Come From Another Medieval Latin Word; “”Granum””, Referring To Red Dye. The Use Of Red Garnet Dates Back Thousands Of Years, When It Was Used By Egyptian Pharaohs For Both Decorative And Ceremonial Purposes. The Ancient Romans Also Wore Garnet Rings And Traded Garnet Gemstones. In Ancient Times, Garnet And Other Red Gemstones Cut In Cabochon Were Called “”Carbuncles””.
The Latin Word, “”Carbunculus”” Alludes To A Burning Piece Of Coal Or Ember. This May Have Been Used To Refer To Garnet Because Of Its Bright Color.

Sapphires Are A Variety Of Corundum, Existing In Almost All Colors. Heat Treatment Is Usually Applied To Improve Their Color And Reduce Small Inclusions.
Among The Fancy Sapphires, Yellow Sapphire, Colored By Trace Amounts Of Iron, Has Become Especially Popular With Gemstone Buyers. One Reason Is That Canary Yellow Diamonds Have Become A Significant Fashion Trend. The More Affordable Yellow Sapphire Has Become An Attractive Substitute For Those Unwilling To Pay The Exorbitant Prices For Yellow Diamond. Since Yellow Sapphire Also Has Excellent Brilliance And Hardness, It Has Also Become A Fashionable Choice As A Center Stone For Engagement Rings, Usually Surrounded By Smaller Diamonds.
Another Reason For The Popularity Of Yellow Sapphire Is That This Gemstone Has A Special Place In The Vedic Astrology Of India. According To The Vedic Tradition, There Are Nine Gemstones That Are Thought To Have Special Significance For Human Life; Ruby, Pearl, Coral, Emerald, Yellow Sapphire, Diamond, Blue Sapphire, Chrysoberyl Cat’S Eye And Hessonite Garnet. These Nine Gemstones Are Thought To Correspond With Planetary Activity And Astrological Entities. According To These Beliefs, Yellow Sapphire Is The Gem Associated With Jupiter.
